My name is Eric Nelson and I am running for House District 42. My goal is to represent the members of my community as a social justice advocate working tirelessly to improve the quality of life for everyone in our district.
I am committed to increasing funding for education, housing affordability, and ensuring the aging population can live with dignity. Additionally, I will continue fighting for equal rights, economic opportunity, criminal justice reform, and access to mental health. I hope you will support my campaign so we can create a Colorado that works for ALL.

Building a Stronger North Aurora Together
As your State Representative, I’m committed to creating real opportunities and improving the quality of life for every family in our community. That’s why my top priorities focus on economic opportunity, affordable housing and safety, and protecting our democracy and immigrant families.
Supporting Working Families and Small Businesses
Small businesses and union workers are the heart of North Aurora’s economy. I will fight to expand access to capital and reduce barriers for entrepreneurs—especially minority-owned businesses. At the same time, I will stand up for fair wages, safe workplaces, and the right to organize, because every worker deserves dignity and respect.
Affordable Housing and Safe Neighborhoods
Everyone deserves a safe place to call home. I’m committed to increasing affordable housing options and strengthening renter protections so families can build stable futures. By investing in community policing and mental health services, we can reduce crime and restore pride in our neighborhoods.
Protecting Our Democracy and Immigrant Families
Our democracy works best when every voice is heard. I will advocate for election reforms that expand voting access, increase transparency, and fight suppression. At the same time, I support comprehensive immigration reform that protects families and offers a clear path to citizenship, building a community where everyone belongs.
Together, we can build a North Aurora that’s prosperous, safe, and inclusive. I’m honored to serve you and ready to fight for the values we share.

This is our State. Together we can tackle our toughest issues and keep our future bright.

We Need to Recommit to Racial Justice in 2021
This week, as the George Floyd trial begins, we as a community must evaluate our commitment to racial justice and how we have responded to the events of last year. With the passage of the Senate bill 217 last year, we (Colorado) definitely responded strongly to the criminal justice and policing concerns of the people.

Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Expansion and Community Priorities
I want to update you on critical community issues discussed at the recent planning meeting regarding the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) expansion along East Colfax Avenue. This project, supported by DRCOG in partnership with Aurora, Arapahoe and Adams counties, RTD, and CDOT, promises to enhance transit connectivity and align with our regional transportation goals.

Committed to a Safer and Stronger Colorado
I want to take a moment to update you on some significant changes happening here in Colorado regarding gun safety and community well-being. This year, our state legislature passed a dozen new laws aimed at strengthening gun regulations — all signed into law by Governor Jared Polis.
