My Story

Inspired by my mom’s strength, resilience, and unwavering commitment to succeed despite the odds—as a single mother raising five children, including two biracial kids—I’ve witnessed firsthand the challenges our family faced navigating a society that often judged and labeled us unfairly. Like many, we were told we wouldn’t succeed. I also experienced periods of homelessness and a lack of resources, which deepened my understanding of the struggles many families face every day.

During these struggles, I made mistakes in life—but through perseverance, support, and hard work, I was able to overcome them and grow stronger. Throughout my journey, I was fortunate to receive mentorship from men in the community who provided guidance, support, and encouragement during some of the toughest times in my life. It was during this mentorship period that I served a non-combat tour in the United States Air Force, an experience that shaped my sense of duty and commitment to service. Since then, I have dedicated myself to supporting veterans, honoring their sacrifices, and ensuring they receive the care and respect they deserve.

My father, who wasn’t present during the early years of my life, came back years later and became a significant source of support before he passed away. His return taught me the power of growth, reconciliation, and the importance of family. Watching my mom’s determination to never quit motivated me to adopt that same mindset—refusing to give up no matter the obstacles.

Alongside my professional and community work, I also became an ordained minister. This spiritual calling has deepened my commitment to serving others with compassion, empathy, and integrity, reinforcing my belief in the power of faith and community to heal and uplift.

These foundational experiences fueled my passion for public service and shaped my commitment to Democratic values—values rooted in equity, opportunity, and community support. I have served on the Aurora Public Schools Board of Education, the Rocky Mountain School of Expeditionary Learning Board, and the Colorado Association of School Boards, advocating tirelessly for quality education and equity for all students. As a community leader, I have testified on critical legislation addressing systemic inequities, using my negotiation and mediation skills to build bridges and foster collaboration across diverse groups, including working across the political aisle to find common ground and solutions that benefit all.

In addition to being a mentor, educator, mental health professional, business leader, union member, and ordained minister, I have consistently witnessed the transformative power of guidance, compassion, and leadership. Over the years, I have actively supported Democratic candidates and causes throughout Colorado and nationwide—whether through volunteering, canvassing, or contributing financially. I am committed to showing up, working hard, and advancing the progressive values we share, including fighting for democracy reform to ensure that every voice is heard and our elections are fair, transparent, and accessible.

Now, I am stepping up to serve as your state representative. I am ready to be a voice for those who feel unheard and a beacon of hope for those who feel overlooked. I am dedicated to fighting for families like mine, working-class families, entrepreneurs, business professionals, and all members of our community. Together, we will expand opportunities and build a community where everyone is valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.

Vision

I see a community where everyone—no matter their background or paycheck—has a real chance to succeed and feel valued. A place where neighbors look out for each other, where we don’t just survive but thrive together. I believe in building a future that’s fair, full of economic opportunity, and rooted in kindness and respect for all.

Beliefs

I believe every person deserves to be treated with dignity and fairness. Life can be tough, and I know that from experience. That’s why I believe in leading with heart, honesty, and a strong sense of right and wrong. When we come together with open minds and caring hearts, we can break down the walls that hold folks back and build a community where everyone has a voice, a seat at the table, and real economic opportunity.

Committed to Building a Safer, Stronger North Aurora and Our House District

As your State Representative, I’m dedicated to tackling the challenges our community faces every day. Together, we can create real economic opportunity, improve safety, and build neighborhoods where everyone can thrive.
