I am proud to endorse my friend Eric Nelson for House District 42.

As a former APS school board member, a military veteran, and the president of our local Optimist Club, Eric and I share far more in common than people may realize. Our paths may look different on the surface, but they intersect deeply through a shared belief that service to others is not optional… it is a responsibility.

The day I met Eric was a day consumed with doubt. It was during a protest, standing on a line demanding dignity, accountability, and protection for people who are too often ignored. (The attached photo captures that moment.) Eric stood there in solidarity, not seeking attention or recognition, but because he understood what was at stake and believed people deserved to be seen and heard. That moment revealed his character long before I knew his résumé.

Since that day, Eric has been a constant and unwavering presence in my life. He is someone I can genuinely confide in, someone who listens carefully, speaks thoughtfully, and offers true, honest feedback, even when it’s uncomfortable. That kind of integrity is rare, and it is exactly what we need in leadership today.

Eric’s commitment to public service is not performative. Whether through his military service, his advocacy for strong public education, or his leadership in our community through the Optimist Club, he consistently shows up with humility, compassion, and purpose. He understands that leadership is not about power, it’s about responsibility, accountability, and standing with people when it matters most.

House District 42 deserves a representative who listens before speaking, leads with integrity, and is willing to stand shoulder to shoulder with the community… not just during election season, but every day. I trust Eric Nelson to bring principled leadership, collaboration, and a deep respect for the people he serves to the State Capitol

Eric is also one of the many people who supported me during my campaign journey, showing up with compassion, steadiness, and quiet strength when I needed it most. He never made it about himself. He simply showed up, as true servants of the community do. And weeks into my campaign win, he continues to be a confidante.
